Criminal Activity Averted Due to QUICK Thinking Resident!!

I received some information from a resident on Laurel Canyon today - just a few homes North of Mill Valley Ln.  Kudos to our quick thinking resident who did many things right to prevent a crime!  Here is the info she passed on:

I wanted to make you aware of an incident that occurred this morning around noon. A white Ford truck pulled up and parked in between our house and the Anderson's house. I watched the guys get out of the truck and walk towards the Anderson's home. Knowing that neither of the Anderson's were home, I kept an eye on the guys. They approached the work truck of the neighbor on the South side of the Anderson's and started opening the side and back compartments of the truck. I stepped outside onto my front porch and asked them if I could help them with something. They replied that they "worked with him". I told them that I would just step back inside and give my neighbor a call. They stood there for a few... seconds and then started to head back to their truck. I immediately called the police. The guys took off pretty quick. I did notice that they had a black bike in the back of the truck. It all happened so fast that I was only able to a partial license plate. The police came and took my statement and also spoke to the neighbor, who confirmed they were not coworkers. Please let people know to make sure cars and trucks, especially work trucks, are locked up, along with bikes put away and garages closed. The officer that took my statement said work trucks are specifically targeted. I am also assuming they swiped the bike, especially with the way it was placed in the back of the truck.

The two guys were probably between 180-200 pounds and probably between 5'10' and 6'. One was Hispanic and wearing a black and white baseball cap with a grey hoodie. The other guy was Polynesian and wearing a dark colored t-shirt with a black knit cap. The truck was a white Ford, fairly new, probably from the last couple of years. There was an X and a 4 in the last three digits of the license plate. It was a white, Ski Utah license plate. It was a quad cab and on the sides of the truck I thought it said F140 with a gold stripe under the words. But I am wondering if it was F150. It all happened so fast, but I am still kicking myself for not taking a picture with my phone. I probably had time to do that.

A few things to mention...WAY TO GO neighbor who was familiar with what cars are normal & what looks out of place! She most likely prevented a burglary!!!! Simple eyes & ears & familiarity is key here! Also, brazen to have this occur in the middle of the day. Please, if you are home - keep your eyes open for what is "normal"! And....way to go to call the police asap! Neighborhood watch works when you "look out for each other"!  And, "Neighbor lady" called 911, which was perfect...911 is totally the best option for an "IN PROGRESS" crime.
